Professor Hongqiang Ren is an Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, and the Dean of the School of Environment, Nanjing University. He was the first chairman of the Industrial Water Reuse Subcommittee of the International Organization for Standardization.
Professor Ren is mainly engaged in innovative research on the strengthening theory, key technologies and core equipment of industrial wastewater biological treatment, and has achieved systematic innovative results. He has made important contributions to the implementation of various nationwide actions such as pollution control, standard establishment, and utilization of renewable water resources.
He published 200 papers and 4 monographs. He has been granted more than 80 invention patents in China and more than 20 invention patents in the United States and the European Union. He has undertaken the establishment of more than 40 standards at the international, national, industrial, and association levels. He received the Second Prize of National Technological Invention three times, the Second Prize of National Natural Science once, six first prizes at provincial and ministerial levels, and the Ho Leung Ho Lee Foundation Prize for Scientific and Technological Innovation.
