Abstract: Professor Sonne has a unique ability of collaborating with scientists from many fields within Environmental Sciences and in that way, he has been able to produce novel and cutting-edge basic research within Arctic wildlife toxicology, research that also have very high applied and societal value. His research has contributed significantly to identify the presence of toxic industrial chemicals in Arctic biota, and to identify the harmful effects of these on Arctic wildlife, ranging from effects on the individual (organismal) level to the population and ecosystem levels.
